We go to a local shop as well. The few times that I've gone to a chain to get my oil changed I've had them try to sell me unnecessary services. Most small time garage owners will not cheat you. They can't generally afford the negative word-of-mouth. The big places can afford to lose customers left and right because there will always be suckers that will line up. Awesome post.
