Here is a riddle for you: Who is thirty pounds lighter than last year at this time, is one helluva right-hander, and whose name rhymes with “Spoof?” You guessed it! BOOF! That’s right, my man Boof Bonser pitched four scoreless innings on Friday in the win against Pittsburgh and only allowed three hits!!! Joe Nathan came in and in typical Joe Nathan style he also pitched a perfect inning and got 2 ks out of the deal. Joe “Sideburns” Mauer had two runs and Cuddy went 3 for 4. Twins win 4-1!

Saturday (today) we made The Phillies bend over and grab their ankles, metaphorically speaking. Kevin Slowey looked pretty dang good today in his quest for the fifth spot on the pitching starters roster. He struck out five Phillies in four innings! All of the guys went off at the plate today, too. Eighteen FRICKING hits off of a pathetic looking Phillies pitching staff. Twins win!! 11-2!

The Twins made their second round of cuts on Friday. Seven more bit the dust. The one I was most upset to see go was Alexi Casilla. I thought for sure that when Luis Castillo went to the Mets last year that Alexi would be his replacement one day. But evidently Gardenhire thinks he is playing too “sloppy” and “non-chalantly” at second base (he is a natural shortstop) and said “better luck next year, buddy. Sorry, no parting gifts for you” This is not a direct Daddy Gardenhire quote.

We have our first spring training home game tomorrow. God, I really wish I lived in Minneapolis sometimes.
